Mitchell D. Bluhm holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall in 1980 and a B.A. from the University of California in 1974. He is a member of the Bar in California, Illinois, and Indiana.
In addition to his work in private practice and as an in-house lawyer, Mr. Bluhm has also served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois College of Law, where he taught advanced courses in corporate law and torts. He also has served as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University of Chicago School of Law and the University of Illinois College of Law.
From 1994-2008, at Electronic Data Systems Corporation, Mr. Bluhm served in various legal capacities, including Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Senior Counsel, and Senior Corporate Counsel.
Mr. Bluhm began his legal career in 1980 as a litigation associate at Sidley & Austin in its Chicago office. There he participated in the defense of several corporate clients in regulatory proceedings , criminal investigations, and product liability claims variously involving the following corporations: GTE, Chrysler, Ford, Coca Cola, Eaton Corporation, Zenith Radio Corporation, Scovill Manufacturing Corp., Morton Thiokol, Inc., and Motorola, Inc. Additionally, he participated in the defense of a residential community hospital relating to medical malpractice claims involving us of blood products produced by Yoo-Hoo and Harris Scientific, Inc. (i.e., a tainted blood case). He was on a three-person trial team representing the Park District of Chicago in a lawsuit brought by now deceased congressman Harold Washington against the district and the City of Chicago challenging the Chicago Park District’s action which affected the congressional redistricting process following the 1980 census.
